The blessed month of Ramadan arrives in the Gaza Strip amid severe living and humanitarian conditions. Hundreds of families lack the warmth of their homes and the traditional Ramadan reunions that have long graced the alleyways and neighborhoods of the Strip. Facing harsh daily challenges, acute food shortages, and skyrocketing prices for fuel and cooking supplies, preparing a warm Iftar meal for a family to share has become an effort requiring extraordinary determination and heartfelt solidarity.
From the heart of this struggle, and in an effort to revive the Ramadan spirit and restore bonds of compassion and mutual support, Ejabh Organization launched its field initiative to organize a collective Iftar in Gaza. The event brought together hundreds of children and elderly individuals around a single Ramadan table arranged in the spacious courtyard of a mosque.
1. Field Scene: Transforming the Mosque Courtyard into a Safe Haven
Choosing the mosque courtyard was not merely a logistical decision to accommodate large numbers; it held deep spiritual and psychological significance. A mosque has always served as a sanctuary of peace and security where families seek comfort during difficult times.
From early afternoon, Ejabh’s field teams and volunteers began cleaning and preparing the space, setting up long dining mats and tables in an organized manner to ensure the comfort of families and ease of movement for children and the elderly. As sunset approached, the courtyard filled with displaced families gathering to share Iftar in an atmosphere of brotherhood and unity.
2. Behind the Scenes: Carefully Preparing Fresh Ramadan Meals
Ejabh understands that providing relief requires the highest standards of care, affection, and respect for human dignity. Therefore, the meal preparation process was meticulously supervised by relief committees and specialized culinary teams working continuously for hours inside temporary field kitchens.
Our teams ensured the preparation of freshly cooked Ramadan meals, strictly adhering to health and safety standards during preparation and packaging. Thanks to seamless coordination, the meals were transferred directly from cooking pots to the tables in the courtyard, arriving hot and fresh just as the Maghrib call to prayer sounded.
3. Social and Psychological Impact: Restoring Warmth and Joy
The collective Iftar project transcends traditional relief efforts focused solely on providing food, addressing deeper social and emotional needs. Seeing children sit side by side and hearing warm conversations and laughter among adults in the mosque courtyard before Iftar helped ease the sense of isolation and hardship imposed by displacement.
Additionally, carefully packaged meals were distributed to families who preferred to break their fast inside their tents, ensuring that everyone’s needs were met in a manner that respected their privacy and comfort.
4. Absolute Transparency and Accountability to Donors
At Ejabh Organization, preserving human dignity and maintaining transparency with our partners and donors are core priorities. Every phase of this project—from purchasing essential ingredients to cooking, packaging, and hosting the gathering—undergoes strict financial, administrative, and field auditing.
We document these blessed moments and human connections through photos and videos to show our generous donors the direct impact of their contributions. Through your support, Zakat and donations are transformed into nourishing meals for those fasting and genuine smiles on children’s faces, all while maintaining strict ethical guidelines to honor the dignity and privacy of every attendee.
Your support for our collective Iftar gatherings acts as a vital lifeline connecting compassionate hearts with the resilient people of Gaza. With your continued solidarity, we will keep organizing Ramadan tables and providing hot meals to ease their burdens. Join us today in feeding a fasting person in Gaza.
